I See The Moon … Who Sees Me?

Occasionally, the moon seems brighter and larger than any other time. The moon does not physically change, but the way it looks from Earth does. This change in appearance only happens when the moon comes very close to Earth while completing its monthly, oval-shaped, lunar orbit. If the moon is in the full phase when this closeness occurs, then a very spectacular full moon, approximately 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual, will be seen.

Hay Seed and City Slicker have discovered that this special moon will come into view two times during 2022! For a chance to win a $25 Amazon email gift card, complete these directions and questions:

1. Find this outstanding moon hidden in the magazine by referring to the page number.

2. What is the name given to this exceptional moon? (The above info will be helpful with your research).

3. Have you ever seen this special moon? Give the two dates when this unique moon will occur in 2022 and be sure to mark your calendar!

October Super Sleuth

The October Super Sleuth was centered around superstitious thinking. For a chance to win a $25 Amazon e-mail gift card, kids were asked: to identify the insect hidden, give the page number and provide one superstition related to the bug.

The correct answers are:
• Ladybug

• If you let a ladybug land on you it’s supposed to bring you good luck.

Our winner is Wren Duke of Bentonville, Va. Congratulations, Wren!
