And the Winners Are....

More than 230 young artists entered their work in the second annual youth art contest sponsored by Cooperative Living magazine.

Kids, grades K-5, from all over the state sent in their colorful and creative drawings and paintings. All entries captured the essence of what makes summer such a magical time for children; many drew pictures of family picnics, horses, pool parties, beach scenes, quiet afternoons in the woods, baseball games, fishing trips, and even playtime with pets. Some of the pictures were done with soft, pretty colored pencils, some with vibrant-colored markers and crayons, and others with smoothly blended watercolors. Whatever the medium, each entry was interesting, endearing and beautiful in its own way.

A panel of six judges pored over all the entries in six classifications in a very difficult task to choose the top three winners in each grade category.

The Best-in-Show entry, shown on the cover of this magazine, will receive a $100 check. The first-place winners in each of the six categories will receive $25 checks.

We would like to thank all of our talented young artists for the many wonderful entries.

Editors note: We had several excellent entries done in horizontal format that had to be eliminated. Contest specifications required entries to be in vertical format.
